Angels on Wheels was pleased to take part in the St George & Sutherland Shire Post School Options Expo, held on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 at Tradies Gymea.
The free community event ran from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Elouera Room and brought together students, families, support providers, NDIS representatives, LAC representatives and local services to help young people explore their post-school options.
Supporting Students and Families Planning for Life After School
The expo was designed for Year 9 to Year 12 students with disability, along with their families, carers and support networks. It gave attendees the opportunity to learn more about NDIS services, school leaver employment supports, community participation, day programs and other pathways available after school.
For many families, planning for life after school can feel overwhelming. Events like this provide a helpful space to ask questions, meet local providers and better understand what supports may be available.
Connecting With the Local Community
Angels on Wheels attended the expo to connect with students, families, schools and other community organisations across the St George and Sutherland Shire areas.
Our team had the opportunity to speak with families about the types of disability support services available through Angels on Wheels, including day programs, community participation, in-home support, support coordination, specialised transport, short-term accommodation and supported independent living.
We also had the chance to share more about our local hubs, including our Sutherland Shire Hub and Rockdale/St George Hub, and how these spaces are designed to support participants with safe, structured and person-centred care.
Why Post-School Planning Matters
The transition from school into adult life is an important stage for students with disability. With the right support, young people can build confidence, develop life skills, stay connected with their community and explore meaningful activities that suit their goals and interests.
Post-school planning may include support with daily living skills, social and community participation, employment preparation, transport, therapy connections, personal care and other NDIS-funded supports.
Angels on Wheels is committed to helping participants and families understand their options and access supports that are practical, respectful and tailored to individual needs.
